I created a custom template but i couldn't find a macro that would show 'Related articles' (similar to what's done in the Troubleshooting template).
Hi Nick,
The Related Articles is actually not a macro, but is consists on two macros that will perform searches based on labels. These macros are the "Content by Label" and the "Page Properties". You should insert these two macros into your new template and insert the related labels you want to search for.
Thanks!

Was there any resolution to this? I'm having the exact same issue as Nick.

But with the Troubleshooting template, the labels are automatically applied? But there isn't a macro to apply the correct labels based upon the label the page has?
