How to create a custom look for the Home Page

I would like to modify a Confluence Site home page as follows:

1. Changing the content in the right hand side of the screen

2. Keep the original Sidebar in the left hand side of the screen

In the Atlassian official instruction, it said we could easily change the site home page by pointing it to a space top page.

Just that doing this will change the sidebar to the space sidebar as well, which is not what I was seeking for.

I also tried to change the default home page 'dashboard' directly, but Confluence only allows me to customize part of it.

Is there any easier way to achieve my goal?

Thanks!
