How to change the default template to be used for a specific space in Confluence?

Not: if this is not posssible: is there an URL that I can hyperlink for creating a new page in a specific space using a specific template?

You can use the create-page template from adaptavist. it gives you a link to create a page, where you can use page templates (as in "space templates, added by the admin in space administration)
