How do you add more fields to the Insert Jira dialog in Confluence?

Eliana Crema September 8, 2020

Environment:

  • Jira Cloud & Confluence Cloud
  • Jira Next-Gen projects

When editing a Confluence page, if you select "Jira" from the "Insert" menu, the "Insert JIRA Issue/Filter" dialog comes up.

If you then select "Create New Issue", the only available fields are:

  • Project
  • Issue Type
  • Summary
  • Description

We want to be able to capture additional data at this point (e.g., select a parent/epic, add a "due date", select a value from a custom dropdown), otherwise, we must still go to Jira and edit the ticket there right away so that it contains these important data points, which defeats the point of using the insert macro as not to leave Confluence.

How can we add these additional fields to the dialog/form when using Next-Gen Jira projects on the Cloud?

Thanks!

Hello Eliana,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The Issue Create screen in Confluence is currently not customizable, so it's not possible to add more fields or also add required fields.

There is a feature request suggesting the implementation of such ability:

Please, click on vote and watch to receive updates about the feature.

Regards,
Angélica
