How do I remove unwanted links from the top menu?

There are links to two Confluence instances but one of them is invalid. How can I remove the invalid link?

Go to your Confluence administration > Application Links. Hide or remove the wrong link.

That didn't help. Basically, there are two different instances of Confluence (say confA and confB). `confB` is not required anymore and is deactivated. When I go to configuring links, it shows me either confA or confB - never both in the list of Application Links.
