How do I redirect users from personal space to profile

Jahsie February 19, 2013

I want users to automatically go to a user's profile instead of their personal space, when anyone clicks on their name.

It seems like the following options are

  1. Delete all personal spaces (not good)
  2. Render profil on home page of all personal spaces (lots of work)
  3. Figure out if their is a 3rd party solution.
  4. Find a setting to make this the default.

I am pretty sure I can do 1 and 2. But is their a 3rd party solution or configuration I am missing?

In Confluence 5.0 (release imminent) this will be the default behaviour.

Is upgrading to 5.0 an option for you?

Thanks Matthew, I was looking for something a bit less technical, I am glad 5.0 has the behaviour. In the interim, probably won't upgrade to 5.0 till the summer, I am planning on providing redirect on the user's personal space home.

Another option:

5) Use a server side redirect. I've done this for a couple of patterns that change the behavior of some actions in Confluence and it's worked very well.

If you're using Apache as, say, a proxy, then you would use mod_rewrite.
