Hey Sidhartha,
I'm afraid your cannot do it in a very simple way, so you might need to create a user macro for this. One example a bit different but that could be used as a starting point is described here by Stefan Eike: https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/158971/how-to-continue-a-numbered-list
You might want to take a look at our documentation about User Macro too: https://developer.atlassian.com/confdev/confluence-user-macro-guide
I hope it helps.
Eduardo
Hi,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I am documenting a procedure in confluence. I use steps there. For example, 1,2,3. Now, I want to manually change the step number 2 to A. Can I do that? because if I change it to A, the subsequent step numbering is changed. But I do not want that. Hence, I want the steps to be in this order: 1,A,3 Is it possible?

Hi Sidhartha,
Can you clarify your question? The description is blank and I believe it didn't came through the post. Are you referring to some procedure like migrating or upgrading confluence?
Cheers,
Rodrigo
