How do I add a link to a shared file/directory on a windows platform in my wiki web page

I have a wiki page where I want to set link to files and locations on shared network folder like file://<network share pooint>/filename.

When I click it is unable to find the location or the file.

Thanks for the response, I looked at the link and previous responses. Looks like having a separate web server for that shared network disk is the only solution. But that is not something I cannot do. If there is another solution that is workable for me it would be great.
