Hi,
Since a few days, my navigation panel on the left side and in the upper area is somehow displayed in retro-style. In addition, a white line goes through the area name. Unfortunately, I cannot find a configuration option to restore the standard navigation layout.
I have not changed anything in the settings. Has anyone ever had the same issue?
I am already grateful for any answer I receive.
Kind regards, Daniela
Hi @Daniela Juraske ,
This UI is actually part of visual/design changes which will be rolled out to pretty much all Atlassian products. You can read more about it here:
Anyway, if you would like to switch to the old navigation, simply click on your profile icon and select Switch back to the old navigation. (& follow the prompt to confirm switching).
Btw, you can always switch back to a new UI whenever you like.
As for this 'line' issue, I would recommend trying to use a different browser to see if that's happening there as well.
Cheers,
Tobi
Hi Tobi,
thank you very much for your answer. Oh sorry, it looks so retro to me ;)
Unfortunately, the menu item to switch back to the old navigation is missing.
The UI is also the same with other browsers. And there is also a white line through the area name.
Kind regards, Daniela

And I have another site and the navigation layout is still in the old design.

Hi @Daniela Juraske ,
Yeah... opinions are quite divided when it comes to the new navigation 😅 We'll see how that will play out.
Info that the new UI is still in beta (as of November 2024; check the article here)
Interesting to see that you cannot switch to the old UI. Potentially, there are still some 'unpolished' things that need to get sorted out before GA and you might stumble upon some of them.
Is this site you're using something newer, or is it an old site?
There's not much we can actually do here, but you could reach out to Atlassian Support and grant them access to your site to see why you can't switch to the old experience. If you're on a Free plan and cannot raise a ticket, you can always start a trial of Standard or Premium and submit a ticket. Once everything is sorted out, you can switch back to the Free plan.
Cheers,
Tobi

Hi Tobi,
Thank you for your answer. I think the site is about 2 years old.
I'll just wait and see then, thanks :)

Hi Daniel,
It is definitely not normal for Confluence to run the retro mode on its navigation panel, especially understanding that you are currently using Confluence cloud.
In order to troubleshoot your issue further, could you please let me know if this issue occurred to all users or only when it is accessible using your account?
Finally, could you please let us know if this issue persist when you access Confluence through different browser.

Hi Septa,
thank you very much for your answer.
Yes. I´m using Confluence Cloud and I´m the only user on this site.
The UI is also the same with other browsers. And there is also a white line through the area name like in the screenshot.
Another community member told me the following: "This UI is actually part of visual/design changes which will be rolled out to pretty much all Atlassian products."
But I have another site and the navigation layout is still in the old design.
Kind regards, Daniela
