How can I login less often?

I am trying to setup jira and confluence and this morning I can see I have logged in 20 times in just over an hour.

Can I increase timeouts and prevent me needing to login twice when i want to use administration function?

i.e. When my session has timed out and I want to use an admin function I have to login to the server and immediately login again as an adminstrator.
