How To Change From Port Base URL To Folder Base URL

During the installation and evaluation of the Atlassian Confluence product the base URL used a port base approach - www.domain.com:8090.

Now that evaluation is complete and the product purchased, there is a desire to change the URL to a folder type approach - www.domain.com/confluence.

Question: How do we make this change? We will not change server nor do we need to upgrade as well have the latest version confluence 4.2.2

The direct approach:

edit conf/server.xml

Change:

<Connector port="80" ...

The indirect approach: Add an nginx or an apache in front of it.
