Hi,
is it possible to inlcude/show/link from an confluence page to an windows file server?
Confluence Version installed: 5.4
You can link to a windows file share. When you create your link select "Web link". Then put the path to the file in the address box. It needs to be in this format file://///path/to/file.txt. Yes that is five slashes at the front. the first three are part of the protocol ... file:///. The next two are the beginning of the UNC path. Keep in mind by default only IE will open link with the file protocol. You can get extensions for Chrome and Firefox to add that ability but they won't do it out of the box.
I was under the impression that Internet Explorer blocked that behavior by default as well. Any site that's in Internet or Restricted sites will fail to open UNC paths. Obviously you can remove this restriction or add pages to Intranet or Allowed.
This community is celebrating its one-year anniversary and Atlassian co-founder Mike Cannon-Brookes has all the feels.
