Explorer 11 says "this page can't be displayed" when trying to log into Confluence

When I try to log into confluence using explorer 11 I get the message "this page can't be displayed, yet if I use Chromo on the same PC at the same time it works. (and other PCs can log in okay using Explorer 11) (note the OS is Windows 8) Is there some explorer whats the fix so explorer 11 will display confluence pages etc ?
