Excel 2016 fails to correctly interpret a JSON obtained via API from Confluence

Mike Lang December 6, 2017

I am trying to obtain a list of attachments in Confluence via API.

The API seems to work when it is entered directly into a browser.  I can even save the returned data to a text file and tell Excel to open that file as JSON, and all works well.  It does not always work when the API is called directly by Excel.  In the instances it does not work, Excel finds no records to decompose (size = 0).

My Excel 2106 .xlsx workbook does the following:

  • Uses 'Get Data' to get the JSON
  • Uses Power Query to decompose the JSON into a table.

It works in Excel when I use this API string:

It does not work in Excel when I use this API string:

Does Not Work.png

Ideas?

Best
Mike
