Do I need to upgrade Confluence and Jira in parallel?

Devin Sijan June 4, 2020

We are running Confluence 6.11.1 and Jira Server and Core 7.12.0.  We continue to see issues in both environment due to their legacy versions but Confluence is by far the top contender that we would like to upgrade to latest first.  My question is, does Confluence have any dependencies with Jira where we need to upgrade them at the same time?  Something I'm hoping to avoid.

Thanks,

Devin

There is no technical reason you couldn't upgrade those versions on their own cadence. In the past there have been cases where Application Links changed and would require both to be upgraded at the same time, but those versions are modern enough that you won't have an issue.

Great!  Thank you for the quick response.  We'll plan to begin with Confluence to alleviate some issues then move onto Jira (which will be more complicated due to the automation that's setup.

Thanks again!

Devin
