Deleted attachement - hidden, renamed or really deleted?

I have a question regarding deleting attachments in Confluence. I you delete it, is it

  • deleted? I mean really gone?
  • hidden?
  • renamed or renamed in db?

It depends...

on the version of Confluence you are using.

With version 5 and before, deleted attachments are gone. If you don't have a backup of the server, they are lost.

With version 6, deleted attachments are moved to trash bin. A space admin can restore your files from there.

They're deleted.  Gone.

You'd need to do an undelete at the operating system level to recover the physical file.
