Create from Template Macro without the result being a child page

Lisa Hanson September 17, 2024

I'm trying to prevent the moving of a page after being created from a macro.  In other words, I don't want the page to be a child of the page containing the macro.  Is there any way to do with, without moving the page (to the space I want it to be)?

Just trying to prevent additional steps.

@Lisa Hanson Welcome to the Atlassian Community!!!

A couple things:

Are you setting the appropriate destination space in the configurations of your template macro?  I tested by sending the resulting page to a different space and it does indeed land at the root level of the destination space.

Next, if you put macro in the space's overview page, it will create the template page at the root level of that space.

The only time I saw the macro creating the template page as a child of the page containing the macro is when I don't set a different space OR when the page hosting the macro isn't the overview the page.

This works.  But the space isn't correct

Create from Template Macro 1.jpg

If I change the "Space key" location to another space, the "Template Name" becomes blank.

Create from Template Macro 2.jpg

If I click on the drop down, the template I want is no longer listed

I am testing this out.   The Template I want to launch is in "My Templates".  Maybe that's the problem(?)

I think that's going to be it.  "My Templates" are local to the space, so if you are trying to go to a different space, the template doesn't exist there.  You may need to work with your Confluence administrator to help you make the template global. . . or recreate the template in the other space as well.
