Connecting to a localhost download installation from another PC

Marowi February 7, 2014

I have downloaded and installed an evaluation license of Confluence on my Windows PC, to the default server base URL (localhost:8090).

I would like to be able to connect to it from my laptop (on the same network).

I have set up port-forwarding to allow access to :8090 on the PC, but the connection from the laptop times out when attempting to connect to [PC_IP]:8090.

I'm probably missing a pretty basic step - I'd appreciate any help or guidance you're able to provide!

Have you check the firewall? Unfortunately, the information is very limited in order to troubleshoot your issue further. If firewall is checked, please make sure that your laptop can access the IP address, you can test this with a PING.

Make sure there are no redirection, antivirus, or firewall (as mentioned) that may cause your laptop unable to connect to it. Is there any specific error message describe in the browser?

Hi Septa,

I'd forgotten that I'd enabled a firewall on the PC.

Thanks for the reply, this is perfect!
