Confluence will no longer start up

Stephen_Hilditch March 30, 2020

Hi. We have been having issue trying to start Confluence up for the last 6 days. With everything that is going on in the world we have no internal IT support to look at the problem.

Confluence was opening fine until we updated an Admin users privileges. an hour later Confluence stopped working completely. It will not start any longer. The server that conatins Confluence was also restarted and updated.

We are not technically minded so I apologise now if we ask a raft of questions.

What can we provide in order for you to help out?

Kind regards

Hi @Stephen_Hilditch

What kind of server is it? Windows or Linux based?

Confluence may not be set as a service, even if it is then there could be another problem.

I recommend taking a looking at this page. It has lot of information about installing Confluence on various platforms.

The first thing you can try is to start the Confluence service (if it is there) on your server. It might bring your Confluence back to running state. The above link will give you more information about service on Windows or Linux based servers.

Hi Ravi

We are running it on a windows server. We have tried stopping and starting it again but with no success. We have been using it for years without an issue until now.

It will not come back up.

Hi @Stephen_Hilditch

Did you try starting the Confluence service as well?

Hi, all the services were/are running as far as I know but Confluence will still not come up. the Tomcat CMD window comes up but looks like it has errors within which I do not understand:
