Confluence authentication failure ( Crowd )

Trying to login to Confluence, using Crowd authentication, gives this error "Sorry, an error occurred trying to log you in. Please try again" What log can I check for clues?

The logs is the first place to start, both on Confluence & Crowd. I'd also recommend increasing the logging level on Crowd to get some more information out.

If you are sure your password is right, the most common error is not having the Confluence IP address as an allowable address in Crowd
