Confluence XML-RPC no longer functioning. REST API alternatives for adding space permissions

We upgraded Confluence to version 6.2 and can no longer get the XML-RPC calls to work. We need an alternative for adding user permissions to spaces through the REST API. Currently the rest API does not support this functionality.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

It doesn't appear that XML-RPC has been removed yet, so maybe there's something else that's causing the XML-RPC calls not to work. Alternatively there is a JSON-RPC API that works similarly that you might be able to get to work. The best thing to do is to install the REST API Browser so you can see all methods available to you.
