Confluence Database Location, Local Vs External

Jason Anderson August 6, 2014

Hello,

My organization would like to install Confluence and the Confluence DB on the same server. However, Confluence documentation recommends an "External" database for Confluence production systems. It is unclear whether this means "external" from the embedded HSQLDB that is bundled with Conflunece, or "external" from the entire Confluence machine. Given we provide sufficent system resources for both entities to reside on the same machine, is this a safe configuration?

Thank you.

Hi Jason, you can install the database server in the same machine if it has enough hardware resources, it's just not recommended using embedded HSQLDB.

Cheers

Great, that's what I expected, but we wanted to be sure. Thanks for the hasty response!
