The biggest reason I liked confluence over Jive Software is use of markup. With 4.0 discontinue support of markup, is there an alternative to confluence?
The purpose is to provide an easy collaboration, knowledge management platform for a group savvy technical folks. Also look for features like reporting/easy table like confluence used to support in 3.5 or lower?
thanks,
We hope you give Confluence 4.0 a chance! Confluence 4.0 still lets you insert wiki markup with things like autoformatting and the "insert wiki markup" dialog. If you want to view the markup in Confluence 4.0, you might check out the new Confluence Wiki Markup Styler plugin. Otherwise wikimatrix.org lists lots of wikis.

Thanks for response. I can see it is not an easy decision for atlassian to make this change. However, it's a sign that simple wiki mark up is no longer the mainstream for confluence. I suspect that more customization make it easier for casual users, but may not be flexible for quick dirty use.
I'll leave the question unaswered for a few more days to see if we can get any other responses. Thanks for pointer to wikimatrix.
