Confluence 4.0 and 4.1 does no longer support links to Windows resources (aka \\server\directory\file.html)

Odd Vinje December 13, 2011

Confluence 4.0 and 4.1 does no longer support links to Windows resources (aka server directory file.html).

Earlier we could write:

\\server\directoryname even with spaces\file.html

.. and it was dispayed and worked as a link. In Confluence 4.x it does not show up as a link, only text.

Have you tried linking like this:

[file://///server/temp/foo.txt] ?

Seems to work for me (but only in Internet Explorer)
See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_don%27t_work
