Change search engine for Confluence from Lucene to something else

Hello there,

We sometimes get questions from our customers that whether it's possible to change the search module from Lucene to something else, for example google appliance.

We do know that you can search Confluence content from external search engine using remote API, but what about changing the search engine altogether?

What we imagine is when you run search something within Confluence, some other search engine than Lucene is used to look up Confluence content and show the result.

Please let me know if you have an idea.

Thank you and regards,

Daisuke Niwa
