Change port 8090 to port 80 with redirect to 443

Frank Krueger February 4, 2014

I am able to setup a redirect from http://localhost:80to https://localhost. Why do I have to type :80 when http is assumed port 80. Is there any way to avoid typing :80? Thanks for all your help!

-Frank.

Hi Frank,

The default port for the http webserver is port 80. You can access it with or without port as the localhost normally will be define in the hosts file.

If you are looking for way to hide the ports in the URL address for easier access by the users, you can use the virtual host option for the confluence instance. Refer to the following documentation on how to set the virtual host here.
