Can't subscribe to other Confluence Calendars

Confluence 3.5 with the Calendar plug-in - not Team Calendars. We can't use Team Calendars at this time.

We have a main Calendar, A, with additional Calendars X, Y Z. Trying to subscribe X, Y, Z to Calendar A results in error "An unexpected problem occurred."

Have tried various suggestions; setting space to anonymous view, added a new calendar user, relaxed parsing mode, nothing seems to work.

Is it possible to get this working or not? this is a major deal breaker for us if we have to buy Team Calendars now.
