Can't enable collaborative editing after updating to Confluence 6.15.8 from 6.15.2

Daniel Niquette August 29, 2019

I have this message when looking at the log analyzer after running troobleshooting tool:

Synchrony Fails to Start due to a NullPointerException

but when I follow the link and check the specified file to check if username and password for the database is present, they are indeed in the file. So I'm stumped, anyone else got the same issue and has a solution to this?

Hello there Daniel!

If you are running Confluence 6.15.8 on Microsoft Windows, there is a chance that you are facing this issue right here:

The workaround involves downgrading the bundled AdoptOpenJDK.

However, this is a guess. For a more detailed path, we need a little more information. Here is a concise list of questions:

  1. Which operating system is currently running Confluence?
  2. Are you using the bundled JDK or did you use an external one?
  3. Are you able to roll back the upgrade?
  4. Is there a particular reason for this upgrade, Daniel?

Looking forward to your reply, Daniel!

Hi,

1. It runs on WIndows 2012 R2

2. I ran the .EXE so I guess bundled?

3. Didn't try it, but I'd rather not (see answer 4)

4. Received a security advisory from Atlassian for a critical security vulnerability

Nevermind, I installed 6.15.9 and everything seem to work fine. Thank you!
