Can't change password

Oleg Kolyada July 11, 2017

Hi! I'm trying to change my admin password, but I can't because of mistakes. I push "Forgot the password", then I'm getting mail with instructions. Then I'm changing the password and getting the mistake. Please help me, I'm not a programmer, so hoping to get the detailed answer. Here is the text of the mistakes:

Cause

com.atlassian.crowd.exception.runtime.OperationFailedException: org.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException: Connect to 89.223.30.252:8080 [/89.223.30.252] failed: Connection refused (Connection refused)
    at com.atlassian.crowd.embedded.core.CrowdServiceImpl.updateUserCredential(CrowdServiceImpl.java:431)

caused by: org.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException: Connect to 89.223.30.252:8080 [/89.223.30.252] failed: Connection refused (Connection refused)
    at org.apache.http.impl.conn.DefaultHttpClientConnectionOperator.connect(DefaultHttpClientConnectionOperator.java:151)

caused by: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused (Connection refused)
    at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketConnect(Native Method)

URL of my Confluence is http://workingprojects.ru:8090/. So I suggest the mistake in the wrong port. Could you please tell me how and where can I change 8080 to 8090?

I'm looking forward to hear from you!

Best regards,

Oleg Kolyada

Hi Oleg,

Since the error message is "connection refused" for 89.223.30.252:8080 and 8080 is the default port for JIRA, I wonder if you are using JIRA for user management. If you are, please see: Connecting to Crowd or JIRA for User Management:

"error.jirabaseurl.connection.refused
Connection refused.

Check if an instance of JIRA is running on the given url

This may be because:
JIRA url is incorrect
JIRA instance is not running on the specified url.
JIRA instance running on the specified url is not 4.3 or later."

The worst case scenario is you will have to change the password in the database. This guide tells how: Restore Passwords To Recover Admin User Rights. Please make sure to use the guide for your version of Confluence. I am linking the doc for Confluence 6.3, you may find other versions by using the little pulldown on the top right of the doc.

I look forward to hearing how it goes.

Ann
