Can page restrictions slow down a Confluence space?

Some groups at our company requested to have rights to restrict some of their pages.

If different groups start to restrict different pages can it result slow performance on our space?

Generally everything will have some kind of performance impact, right? But applying page restrictions shouldn't be more harmful than writing a comment or editing a page. It really shouldn't be too much of a problem unless there's tens of thousands of pages in your space.
