CQL crafted URLs give 404 unless you open in a new tab

Sean Smith September 30, 2017

Edit a page and put in a URL like this (sub you domain and an identifier to a valid page):

https://company.atlassian.net/wiki/dosearchsite.action?cql=type+%3D+%22page%22+and+parent+%3D+%221740407%22

Save the page. Click the link. Get a 404. Hold CTRL|Command and click the link...works!

Hi Sean,

This could be related to addons or extensions that you've installed in your browser like Adblockers.

Could you verify if you have some installed, disable them and try again?

Best,

Maarten

Happens on Chrome, Firefox, Safari...with Safari having no extensions.

Viewing page source on a page with such a link shows me that Confluence generates the page contents all from javascript. That tells me the likely culprit is the click handler on the link is grabbing the URL to send to the server.

Coming in through the front door works, but coming in through your app controller (not through the default route) does now. Likely there is  some HTTP encode/decode going on (either the HTTP REST POST, or inside the app controller that is messing things up.
