Harman Kochhar October 4, 2024

I am trying to add a macro "Include Page" and wants the details as "Collapse" but not able to, it is showing as Expanded on the page. So wondering if someone can assist with the same.

Hi @Harman Kochhar and welcome to the Community.

Thanks for the above reply. It did helped me in somewhat. I was able to add the "include" macro under the "Expand" macro. So I am on view page, it looks nice. But I have another trouble. When I am editing the page, all the include pages are automatically shown as "expanded" and I have to keep down down on the page to find my relevant info. This is making the page too long.

Is there anyway, I can make the "Include" page as collapsed only and when I want to modify, i can expand as per need basis and then edit the details?

Hi @Harman Kochhar

Not that I know of. I think the idea is to display all editable content in the edit mode.

But there might be an app for that :)

@Harman Kochhar If the content inside the Expand macro is still showing as expanded by default, it could be due to one of the following reasons:

  • If the Include Page macro is not properly nested inside the Expand macro, the content may appear as expanded. Double-check that the Include Page is inside the Expand macro container.

  • Some Confluence versions or themes may not fully support nesting the Include Page macro inside an Expand macro. This can cause the page to render differently. If you're using Confluence Cloud or a specific version of Confluence Server, there might be limitations.

  • Sometimes, Confluence caches the content, so even after making changes, it might not render as expected. Try refreshing the page or clearing the browser cache to see if the issue persists.

Remove the existing macros and recreate them. Insert the Expand macro first, then insert the Include Page macro inside it. Make sure there is no extra space or line breaks between the two macros.

Hope this helps!
