This is really not serious approach not to offer such option.
We don't want our users to go anywhere outside our website/brand.
Developer who want to know what cool soft were used to create such documentation will always find a way to do that. So you can be sure once someone will like it will turn to you.
This should be possible especially in self hosted version
I don't understand this forcing, lot of various web/server software offer optionally such possibility.
