Should Pages in Confluence Cloud be synchronized with Confluence IOS app? Edited

Phrasing as a question... Should Pages in Confluence Cloud be synchronized with Confluence IOS app?

Observation:

  • I have a Confluence Cloud site with a task list on a page.
  • I edit on the web in Chrome and on the Confluence IOS app
  • The !!page is out of sync between the two editors!!  I can save on both, neither sees the other's changes.
  • I have doublechecked the path.
  • When I view page history, I can see that both editors are saving over the other.
  • Refreshing does not bring them back in sync.
  • Seems like a major defect, but I'm open to the suggestion that it's a feature.

EDIT: I was able to get them sync'd again, but I'm sure I lost some work.  I used the older Confluence editor in an installed version of Confluence for years and it worked like a champ, without ever losing work.

@Jeremy Richardson I wonder if you have different versions open in the two clients.  Perhaps close the mobile app and re-open ensuring you are on the latest version.

Thanks Geoff,

I killed and reopened the IOS app, no luck.  The only thing that seemed to work is letting my iphone sit overnight.  Then I came back and saw the edits, but I can clearly see in history that each editor was overwriting the other.

That's not how collaborative edit is supposed to work.  It's supposed to keep them in sync and allow concurrent edits.

Again this works great in some versions of Confluence.

Before making the edit on the second device, try refreshing the page to see if the second device catches the edit made on the first device?

Thanks for the reply Dave,

Oh, you're right! Had a total brain fart there.

CE still works in Cloud as far as I know. Hmm, wish I had a suggestion for you - CE shouldn't care what client you're editing from...

Jeremy,

Are you publishing your changes on the desktop or saving them as drafts?

From my experience drafts will not immediately sync however publishing the article does immediately sync.

I agree that an article should be able to be edited on both phones even as drafts. I have verified on my end that this is not possible unfortunately with the latest versions of the iOS confluence application -- I haven't checked on Android yet, but I am guessing it's the same.

This should be reported as a bug in my opinion, but can also be considered a business decision on their part, which would not be a bug, depending on their perspective, unfortunately, which "ours" and "theirs" may differ.

Hey there @Jeremy Richardson

My name is Stephanie Zhang and I'm a product manager on the confluence cloud. Any chance you'd be willing to speak with the development team on your experience? As a token of our thanks you'd be eligible for a $70 giftcard. Let me know if you're interested by sending your availability to szhang5@atlassian.com (we work in Pacific time).

Thanks!
