Am I able to create a post and have my staff check off that they have seen the post?

I would like to be able to create a post and just have staff acknowledge tht they have seen the post and not have to comment. Basically just a "mark as read" function??

If you are tracking for regulatory compliance and need the acknowledgements to serve as digital signatures, then you will probably need to add an app, such as one of the following:

Server only

Server or Cloud

Cloud only

  1. You will need to assess whether the app in question can satisfy the requirements in question.
  2. The app may require a specific configuration to satisfy the requirements.
  3. It may be necessary to combine the app with one or more other apps to fully satisfy the requirements.
  4. A complete system may require server configuration, process validation, and other steps not necessarily related to these or any other apps.

The Comala and Radbee apps—possibly others too—can meet CFR 820 Part 11 and ISO 13485 requirements. Comalatech supports compliance by design. Radbee Ltd, SoftComply are companies that specialise in compliance solutions, and there are others not on the Atlassian Marketplace.

If all you need is a simple way to accomplish team communication, and you want or need to do it without adding apps, then Confluence tasks are one option. You can add tasks directly to the page of interest or on a separate dashboard (i.e., one tasks for each person who needs to acknowledge the post). If you want to hide the tasks after completion, but keep a record of their completion, you can put them in a page properties macro. Users can mark tasks complete without editing the page—totally simple.

While the task method would not be good enough for compliance to the regulations and standards familiar to me, this is something you could use effectively as a really basic workflow if suits your team. Naturally, you could also turn to Jira for more robust workflow-management.

Edits: added more apps and vendors; added a link to the endorsement-of-documents post suggested by @Marc; clarified some details.

Thanks for this. I added it to the answer.

Hi @traven

Thanks so much for adding your comment into the Atlassian Community. As @Ryan Carpenter mentioned there are some great tools in the Marketplace to help with having your Confluence content marked as read by your confluence user group.

If you're looking for a cloud solution, Comalatech has some great news. We recently released Comala Read Confirmations. With Read Confirmations for Confluence Cloud, you can assign team members to read Confluence pages, and keep track of who has read them.

You can try it for free from the Atlassian Market Place HERE

Best Regards,
