Jira or Bitbucket or both to provide view into application collisions

Mary Wilson March 10, 2020

Hi All,

Thought I throw this out locally first.  We use Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, and ServiceNow.  My challenge is providing a view to the department, and ultimately heading off the possible collisions, of multiple teams releasing changes to the same application.  Essentially, team A and team B are intending to both contribute code to AppXYZ.  They'd each have a JIRA card and each pushing to the same branch in Bitbucket.  What we want is a view (JIRA query, bitbucket query, Confluence Page?) that says, team A and team B intend to release changes to AppXYZ on 13 March.

Ideas?  Go!  : )

Hi @Mary Wilson,

Currently the closest you can get it to use the release hub to see what is about to be released. But unfortunately it doesn't span multiple projects if you are using one project per team. The Remote Summit keynote today showed a solution using Jira Service Desk and Automation rules.

You can search for some of the development information in Jira, see Advanced searching - development fields reference. But you can only search on these ones (the document lists more, but that is if you also have Bamboo and Fisheye/Crucible):

  • development[branches].all
  • development[builds]
  • development[commits]
  • development[pullrequests]
