Atlassian removed the mysql "autoreconnect=true" from both JIRA and Confluence database configurations citing the fact that it doesn't help and can actually cause some problems.

See: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-19135, https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-15731

So why was it reintroduced as a default setting for Stash?

Hi Alex,

Sorry for the delay. I've been trying to talk to people internally about why it might be there. Looks like we might have inherited this from Fisheye. I'm looking to remove it in Stash 2.12.

For now have you tried modifying your $STASH_HOME/stash-config.properties file? And if so I'm assuming everything worked as expected?

Charles

I haven't actually tried it yet, but I was definitely considering it. I'll add it to my list of changes for our next Stash maintenance window and if you haven't beaten me to the changes, I'll come back here to confirm. :)
