how to use bitbucket api to set branch protection in a repo?

Hi,

I want to set branch protection to a repo's branch so that nobody can push code in that branch. I can do that with the webUI by going into repo setting and then going to 'branch protection' link but I am looking to do that with the api so that i can script it for automation.
Is there any way or support in api to achieve this task?

thanks.
