When will Bitbucket Server (aka Stash) be available in the cloud?

Martin Ulmschneider February 10, 2016

We're currently using JIRA & Confluence Cloud, and plan to also use Bamboo and Bitbucket. Unfortunately Bitbucket Cloud is a) not integrated with the other Atlassian products (seperate user/group management, are you kidding me?) and b) doesn't provide the features that Bitbucket Server does (e.g. Gitflow support, Addons, Permissions, etc).

When will Bitbucket Server be available in the cloud (with proper integration into the other Atlassian products)?

Hi Martin, thanks for sharing your feedback. It helps us prioritise our efforts.

Our plan is to improve Bitbucket Cloud to meet various expectations as it is better architected for the role of providing a robust cloud service. Trying to make Bitbucket Server into a viable cloud friendly product has a number of pitfalls that would not see us serving our customers' needs in a timely, satisfying manner.

We're working on improving the integrations and user management aspects of Bitbucket Cloud over time. The existing JIRA integration in particular is one area that is actively being worked on, but it's just part of a larger theme.

We're also working on closing feature gaps between Bitbucket Cloud and Bitbucket Server. Project permissions and workflow improvements are good examples. As for add-ons, we've rolled out Atlassian Connect to Bitbucket Cloud, providing an add-ons framework equivalent to that available in JIRA and Confluence Cloud, and will continue to invest there.
