Verify stash restore

Gareth Jones April 15, 2015

Hi,

We're using the Stash backup client for a daily backup, this is copied off the server as part of our disaster recovery plan.
The other side of the plan is that we'd like to schedule a restore of the most recent backup and verify it's a 'good' restore. We're doing this on a test server.

Any opinions on how far to go here? If we manage to restore using the backup client is that proof enough? Should we clone repositories and run `git fsck` or similar?
I'll need to do the same for Jira/Confluence, I think I'll open a different question for those!

FYI We're running Stash on a Linux server using MySql.

Regards,
Gareth

Hi Gareth,

Restoring using the client and checking that all repos and comments are there should be proof enough.

You can check on the basic things you mentioned (i.e. cloning) just to make sure it works.

Best,

Thiago
