Storage and alerting on repositories?

Martin Schoonbroodt January 25, 2017

Dear team,

we would love to know if there is a feature that can trigger an alert (notification) by email or similar to an administrator when the following condition is met:

Storage of the repositories arrive over a threshold of 80%. Basically we want to be notified in advance when the server storage starts to become critical. An administrator will then enable a storage increase process.

Net, can we trigger any notification based on system (here storage) triggers?

Thanks.

Hi Martin,

Bitbucket does not include any monitoring tools out of the box.

There are many tools to monitor your server's health and it is very much recommended to set up a monitoring system for any production systems you might have.

Some commonly used tools are:

  • collectd
  • datadog
  • newrelic
  • nagios
  • (many more)

These tools will allow you to monitor all kinds of statistics, and in most cases, configure alerts once any statistic exceeds a certain threshold.

Many of these tools can also monitor Bitbucket specific statistics, which can be included via the JMX counters Bitbucket exposes (see Enabling JMX counters for performance monitoring).

I hope that helps,

Felix
