When starting stash as a service it hangs on "Starting pluging framework".
atlassianstash-stdout.2015-02-17.log contains:
ERROR: Bundle org.springframework.osgi.extender [7] Error starting file:/D:/Atlassian/ApplicationData/Stash/plugins/.osgi-cache/framework-bundles/spring-osgi-extender-1.2.1.jar (org.osgi.framework.BundleException: Activator start error in bundle org.springframework.osgi.extender [7].)
When I start stash by "startup_stash.bat" it works fine! But I would like to run it as a service...
Hi Daan,
I wanted to close the loop here since we resolved this by raising a support request and if other people find their way here, they'll have an answer.
This was caused by the -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
Java option not being set for the Stash Windows service. Using this guide we were able to -XX:MaxPermSize=256m to the end of the Java Options.
Cheers,
Jeff
Just to complement, this has been resolved and tracked by https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/STASH-7053

Hi @Daan Gerrits Could you please open the support ticket over at support.atlassian.com where you can privately show us your logs You can generate a support zip with all the logs with these instrunctions https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/STASH/Raising+a+request+with+Atlassian+Support (You will need to start stash with startup_stash.bar to be able to make the support zip) It would be good if you can include all the details about your environment: Stash version, operating system, Java version, and how you have installed Stash. Also if you can it would help us alot if you can include a thread dump https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/STASHKB/Generate+a+Thread+Dump+Externally Thanks Scott Goodhew, Atlassian Stash
