SourceTree very slow when using ssh but fast when using HTTPS - why?

Paul O'Flynn July 24, 2013

I noticed the above behaviour so I tried the git bash (on the same machine) and it is much faster. This happens with all of our repos which vary from small to large (~480MB). This only happens on Windows, not for our Mac users. Windows users are all on Win7 and all using SourceTree 1.0.6 and git 1.8.3 with the latest version of pageant. Timing below are all how long each method took to clone out biggest repo. Note the horrible "SourceTree using ssh". What's going on?

git bash using ssh: 12min

SourceTree using ssh: 45mins

git bash using https: 4m 45s

SourceTree using https: 5mins

EDIT: Git Bash is not the same, it is much faster than SourceTree. So this is a SourceTree issue...

git bash using ssh: 12min
SourceTree using ssh: 45mins
git bash using https: 4m 45s
SourceTree using https: 5mins
