SourceTree SSH and Login Fails

Paul Tomkinson October 28, 2016

Ok, I have done my research. We still are having issues with the SSH auth and the setup 'wizard'. That's one heck of a black magic wizard.

  • SHH does not auth. Tried all manner from creating pub/priv keys, adding them manually in Bitbucket etc.
  • Deleted exe.config and reinstalled SourceTree to get wizard again as login info was incorrect (due to onboarding copy issues)
  • Cannot add a user, settings is greyed out. Terminal button does nothing on click.
  • Under network adding a proxy does nothing. Under Auth, can only edit, and even then, only password

Pls help us get our Bitbucket sync'd. We did it manually with CMD just to test if auth was working. It was not. Have been through the Atlassian FAQ but they are rather rudimentary and do not address many of the simple issues above (not having the capability to add/edit accounts even prior to dealing with the .SSH issues).

    Also reviewed https://deedoubleewedee.wordpress.com/2015/06/05/setting-up-ssh-keys-for-a-git-repository-using-sourcetree-and-bitbucket/
    and https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucket/set-up-ssh-for-git-728138079.html

    both to no avail.

    Thank you.

I'm glad you've done your research, but it would be helpful if you would share a little more detail about the errors you are getting.

At this moment, presumably because of the auth issues, you have no local repositories. The toolbar buttons (except Clone/New) all require a repository context to function.

To get Bitbucket working, you can either use the Clone/New dialog to clone one repository at a time with NO extended integration (Pull Requests, etc), or you can go to View > Show Hosted Repositories, and connect directly to your Bitbucket account, which will allow you to clone any repo from that account with a button click, and enables extended integration. If you have tried one of these, please share specific error messages or failure screenshots.
