Single branch READ permission per user

I am looking for READ permission to a single branch in a repo, without giving access to all branches in said repo.  Is this possible to do somehow?

Use-case:  We were planning to generate and distribute an "access key" to our sites that need access to a certain version of the repo.  We don't want just anyone to be able to pull down any branch.

I am using the branch permissions to limit write access already, but there does not appear to be a way to limit the READ permissions for a specific branch.  Am I missing something, or is this not the case?
