Dharshani October 31, 2012

Does the Bamboo take a SVN UP after the initial build or does it CHECKOUT each time it runs a build?

It can be configured to do either an update or checkout. The default is update.

Thanks for your prompt response.

I would like to know where it is been configured? and how to check if it is configured correctly?

The log indicates the following;

simple	31-Oct-2012 23:33:59	Updating source code to revision: 147061
simple	31-Oct-2012 23:33:59	Working directory '/home/bamboo/Bamboo-3.4/source-repository/build-dir/WCB001-PLA001-JOB1' is empty. Checking out SVN URL 'https://svn.wso2.org/repos/wso2/carbon/platform/branches/4.0.0'
simple	01-Nov-2012 01:58:52	Updated source code to revision: 147061
simple	01-Nov-2012 01:58:52	Running postRetrieveSourceCode task...
simple	01-Nov-2012 01:58:52	Finished task 'Checkout Default Repository'

The main concern I have is the time taken to run a build for one part of the whole project.

Check your job configuration to see if you set the option to clean the working directory. In the case listed above, the directory was empty, so Bamboo had to check out instead of update.

Will it work if we uncheck the FORCE CLEAN BUILD under source code checkout configuration?

Yes, it will.
