SCM access over HTTP(S) has been disabled

Dusty Gilbert March 9, 2016

I'm attempting to use SourceTree for Windows to clone a repository. I'm new to Git so I appreciate any guidance.

I can login to the web site with this URL

http://git.test.domain.com:8080/projects/CFN/repos/cfn/browse

From there, I use the "Check Out in SourceTree" option.

The error is: SCM access over HTTP(S) has been disabled.

I searched but not finding much help here.

Does HTTP / HTTPS need to be enabled in the repository settings?

Hi @Dusty Gilbert,

that looks like the systems administrator of your Bitbucket Server (or Stash) instance has disabled making SCM requests over HTTP.

This means you'll likely need to use SSH (or have a chat with your sysadmin). Here's a bit of documentation on using SSH for git operations.

If you are the admin of your Bitbucket Server instance, you can (re-)enable HTTP access to your repositories by following this how-to in reverse.

Hope that helps,

Felix
