SCM Cache Plugin obsolete in BitBucket Server 4?

Deleted user November 23, 2016

We're testing migration from Stash 3.11 to Bitbucket Server 4.10. After restoring from backup Bitbucket Server came up offering updates for all our installed plugins but the SCM Cache plugin.

This plugin is marked incompatible.

Question is: Is the Plugin still needed, or can we ommit it?

Yes, that's an obsolete plugin.

I think the "SCM Cache" is now a core component of Bitbucket Server, and so you can uninstall the add-on, since the service it provides is already a core function of Bitbucket.

You can go to the secret "OSGI" debug page to see it.  Go to your "Manage Add-Ons" page as an admin, and then add "/osgi" to the URL (should end up looking something like "/bitbucket/plugins/servlet/upm/osgi").   Type in "Cache" and you should see something like this:

63 - Bitbucket Server - SCM Cache

p.s.  I invite you to try my Bitbucket and JIRA add-ons.  Bit-Booster Commit Graph and More (for Bitbucket), and Git Graph for JIRA.
