Quick question: Is the 2GB limit per repository or across repositories?

AmaryllisVR February 20, 2017

If I create 3 repositories with a free account, do each of these have the limit of 2GB, or does the 2GB apply to all repositories together?

Cheers

Hi Amaryllis,

This limit is applied per repository. You can have unlimited repositories with 2GB limit in each one, regardless of the plan you're in. Higher plans will allow you more number of users, but the size of the repositories will remain the same. This is explained at What kind of limits do you have?

Note that the 2GB is a hard limit, and you won't be able to push new commits once you reach it. If this happens, you'll be able to fix it following the steps at Reduce repository size. But even better to avoid this from happening, following the tips at Maintaining a Git repository.

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Ana
