Pull request activity log doesn't show old entries

Igor Ostrovsky December 29, 2013

We have a pull request that has had a lot of discussion. However, older comments that were entered into the "What do you want to say?" text box under Pull requests -> Overview -> Activity are no longer visible.

  • If you scroll down on the page (Pull requests -> Overview), the page will incrementally load additional entries, but only once (in our particular case anyways). It still won't show the oldest comments.
  • The old comments are still accessible via direct links, e.g. from the original email notifications when the comments were written

So, if we go to this page, we won't see the older comments, even if we scroll all the way to the bottom of the page (hoping that the incremental loading will kick in):

http://our-server:7990/projects/XX/repos/some-repo/pull-requests/1/overview

But we can still view the comment by going to:

http://our-server:7990/projects/XX/repos/some-repo/pull-requests/1/overview?commentId=7

I tried this both in Chrome, Firefox and IE 11, and got the same behaviors.

Any idea what we may be doing wrong? Or is this a bug?

Hi Igor,

That's definitely not expected, and sounds like a bug. I just tested it here on our server and it seems to be working fine, but that doesn't help you much.

Do you see any errors in the browser console? When you get to the end of the second page you're saying that the first entry is not the "opened" one? Is there a spinner ? If you open the Chrome network tab and scroll to the end of the second page do you see another http request for "activities" that perhaps returns an error?

If you don't mind it might be good if you raise a support ticket so we can ask you to attach your logs (and possibly any Javascript console output as well). What version of Stash are you running BTW?

Cheers,

Charles

Thanks, Charles. I opened an issue (https://support.atlassian.com/browse/SSP-3117) and responded to your questions there.

Hi Igor,

Bad timing! We just managed to reproduce it here (it was fixed in the next version and I didn't know). I'm just backporting the fix now.

Would you be able to upgrade to Stash 2.10?

Cheers,

Charles
